Destinations by Design, Inc. (DBD) along with The Venetian | Palazzo Las Vegas won two awards at the 33rd annual Gala Awards hosted by Special Events magazine in New Orleans, LA on Thursday, February 1, 2018. Hosted by Special Events magazine, the Gala Awards celebrate events that raise the bar for innovation and recognize the finest work in special events worldwide.
For the 2018 Gala Awards, DBD and The Venetian | Palazzo Las Vegas were nominated and won two awards; “BEST DINING TABLE DESIGN” and “BEST ON-SITE CATERED EVENT BY A HOTEL BANQUET DEPARTMENT” from the 2016 edition of The Grand Banquet which was a highlight for the fourth annual Ultimo: Weekend of Excellence.
“Working with the Venetian| Palazzo to organize the details for one of the most extraordinarily lavish dining experiences has always been such an honor for us,” Destinations by Design, Inc. vice president of creative Allison Hart, said in the release. “To win an award for our participation in designing a setting that is on par with such a grandiose meal is the icing on the proverbial cake!”
The Grand Banquet is one of the most extravagant culinary events in Las Vegas. Installed in The Venetian’s Grand Colonnade and stretching an astonishing 153 feet in length, the black glass tables were set for 150 guests which felt palatial yet intimate. The tablescape displayed collections of elegant black vases and exquisite Lalique crystal vases underlit filled with eggplant mini calla lilies, picasso mini calla lilies, white phalaenopsis orchids as well as towering glass cylinders with floating candles.
For the black-tie main event on Saturday night, The Grand Banquet was certainly one to remember when culinary talents like Thomas Keller, Curtis Stone, Jérôme Bocuse, and Vikran Vij (along with seven others) were on hand producing dishes. Keeping with the event’s Le Grand Voyage theme, the dishes were inspirated from global cuisine and the diverse backgrounds of the chefs creating them. Only Las Vegas could produce a culinary event of this magnitude under one roof with such a star-studded lineup of chefs, vintners and luxury fashions.
